Knitting Cabled Serpentine Pattern
I will list the pattern here and I also have a PDF link above in case you want to save it to your computer.
Needle Size: 10.5
Yarn: Worsted Weight Yarn
Cast On: 29 stitches
Finished Size: 6 x 9 inches
Gauge: 5.16 stitches per inch
STITCHES:
C6F - Slip 3 stitches to the front, Knit 3 stitches then Knit 3 stitches from the cable needle
C6B – Slip 3 stitches to the back, Knit 3 stitches then Knit 3 stitches from the cable needle
Moss Stitch: On odd numbered rows you are going to K1, P1, K1, P1.
On the even numbered rows you are going to knit the purl stitches and purl the knit stitches.
PATTERN:
[TIP: One thing I do is that I add a stitch marker after the first 5 stitches are done (moss stitches) and I add one before the last 5 stitches (also moss stitches). I do this, because on the Wrong Side rows (the even numbered rows) you knit the knits and purl the purls but when you get to the moss you don't. The stitch markers let me know when I'm there. I don't have to worry about looking ahead on every single row.]
The cable pattern is in bold if you wish to change the stitches between them and the border stitches.
Rows 1, 3, 7, 9: 4 moss, P3, K6, P3, K6, P3, 4 moss
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12: Knit the knits and purl the purls
Row 5: 4 moss, P3, C6F , P3, C6F, P3, 4 moss
Row 11: 4 moss, P3, C6B, P3, C6B, P3, 4 moss
Repeat rows 1-12
When you reach the size required you can bind off and weave in the ends.
